Why using Gmail? Beside 1GB free space? Beside great filtering system? Beside the labeling concept which surpassing the folder concept? Well, it just feels right =).
I only use Gmail for my mailing list purpose and web contact. I am still using my private domain e-mail address for my personal and business purpose because I have my own domain and it just looks more professional. So I really don’t care about those issue about privacy, that Google snoops my e-mail to put an advertising because mailing list is supposed to be public anyway and who in the right mind will write any private information, like credit card number, in their e-mail anyway? E-mail is like post card, everybody can read what you wrote on it unless you do an encryption step which for me is like pain in the ass…
Another issue that I found really annoying is that some people complain that they can’t access Gmail using POP3. Hey, it’s a 1GB free space from your hard drive! Need those e-mail in your own computer? Forward it to your personal e-mail and then save it there! Why do you need a POP3 then? Complaining about Gmail unability to use POP3 is not really a big issue, IMHO. Well, if you are like hamster, I mean like to stash your e-mail inside your hard drive until it get rotten, then I give up. E-mail for me has a very short amount of living time so if I don’t need it, I just delete it or print it out or save it as a text file and make a database out of it. Simple…
Now it’s time for the prize =). I have a couple of Gmail invitations and since most of my friends already have Gmail account and I just want to get rid of them, I will give those invitations to whoever request them. How? Send me e-mail and give your opinion about my website, whatever, just give me some critics, input, good or bad opinion doesn’t really matter as long as it means improvement for my website next evolution (hint hint).
So help me get rid of the invitations ;).
