it's been a week…

April 17th, 2002

since my last entry. sorry ppl. but sometimes i just couldn’t write anything because i was so damn tired. well. it’s been a great week. my birthday was one quite birthday but still enjoyable (well. i was working until 9 pm at that time…).

about the work. officially i am a graphic design artist (i really like this terms than graphic designer or art director or anything cliche like that) but today i’ve got one more task on my already long tasks list. i am now fully responsible on the ‘virtual sets’ project accompanied by one animator. if you don’t know what is ‘virtual sets’ mean use google and search with the keyword ‘virtual sets 3d’.

and i felt funny. because after spending some time without doing some architectural works now i must do something that really had a close connection with architecture. life is funny. i love my funny life.

enjoying a busy life…

April 10th, 2002

sorry for the lack of updates. my real life™ is now an interesting and very busy life. it’s almost 7 am to 8 pm (sometimes 9 or 10 pm) outside the house. not that i am complaining, i am enjoying this new routine… honest!

being a solo graphic designer in a television broadcasting station is not a very usual job… well, i’ve got help from my working partner of course, thanks friend.. i need those help. but imagine you had a responsibility to design from print presentation to broadcast presentation. cool eh? and i am still a greenhorn… that factor add to the interesting part… =)

so i hope you understand about the lack of updates. as today i’ve got some new tasks at hand… broadcast and print as usual… you’ll have to be a jack of all trades, right?

well. that’s it for now. i had some work to do. there is no free time for me now, i guess its a payover for my overly free time back then.. =P. until later.

a greenhorn…

April 4th, 2002

that what people on the old wild west will call me right now. i am such a newbie on my new workplace. i had solid background with art and design but not a true solid experience on broadcast area. man…

today i had so much lessons about how to make things right according to broadcast’s standard. in fact lots of lessons that remind me that although i had a very sophisticated design experience it only helps a little when you dealing with broadcast’s true experience. there are so much to learn and so little time to do all of them. phew…

so, on the fourth day of being a working man i would like to give some advise to all designer that never experienced broadcast area but considering to join the broadcast. do not take this job lightly… you maybe a great flasher or a director wizard. you maybe create one hell of multimedia animation. you maybe had a great cd full of your superb motion gallery. but the broadcast world is more that just a pretty portfolio. it takes open mind to survive. it even take away your creative mind at first because of the limitation of the media. you may think web or multimedia cd is limited but broadcasting is more limited than that. so be brave to learn new things, you will need that attitude.

so i personally like to thanks my two collegue at works, who really take their time to guide me through my first 4 days. i maybe not a very usefull person right now, but i promise i’ll pay your efforts with something more greater with your help. thanks again folks, your spirit and teaching light my world.

day three…

April 3rd, 2002

on the office. two major things happened today. first, we were moving from 2nd floor to 1st floor. bigger room, more computers, near kitchen but no ‘scenery’… =). two, this is the first time i take my works to my home. well, i always tried to avoid that but since our computers were not installed yet at the new room i could not finish the works. so… here i am now, just finished working…

on the way home. traffic jam! 30 minutes from my office to the nearer-from-home freeway’s exit and one hour from the exit to my home, which normally only take… 5 to 10 minutes. so much for a ‘freeway’ eh? it’s all because of the soccer game at the stadion located next to the freeway’s exit. imagine that a soccer game could expand your driving time from 10 minutes to 60 minutes. amazing eh?

well… that’s it for today. i am very tired now, have to wake up early. see you soon.
